A.J.'s First Golf Lesson...

A.J. had his first golf lesson yesterday and got more than he bargained for. By the end of it, he ended up in the ER. One of the other students (a younger boy) overswung when A.J. was behind him. He got a pretty nasty cut under his eye. There was alot of blood. Luckily, we got in to see a doctor with almost no wait (which has never happened to us before). He had a cat scan to make sure no bones had fractured. He said it was really cool to go in the cat scan machine. I couldn't go with him for that part because I had both girls with me. Adrian was working in Galveston and couldn't get back in time to help. So the cat scan showed no broken bones. He had 5 stitches and goes back in a week to remove them. The little boy's mother called me this morning to apologize. Her little boy was just hysterically crying over it last night and he is coming to visit to apologize in person (even though he already apologized right after it happened) and to see with his own eyes that A.J. is alright. Anyway, I kept A.J. home today because he was tired and sore and as you can see from the pictures, his eye is almost swollen shut. Go figure that after playing soccer, football and baseball, that golf is the sport he gets hurt in! Who knew golf was so dangerous?

Career Parade

Today was the career parade at school bright and early at 8:45am! Isabel was a country music star although you couldn't really tell because she didn't want to carry a guitar or microphone! A.J. is considered an upperclassman so his grade doesn't participate anymore. They just watched.

I just love a man in uniform!

A.J. is now a Wolf in Cub Scouts! We just now got his uniform and yes as his den leader I do have a sweet yellow shirt too. He had his first Pinewood Derby. He and Adrian did a great job on the car and he made District! Well his den only had 3 boys so they automatically made it but he still did great! He's very excited about District Finals and hopefully I will remember my camera for that one! Oh by the way, didn't I do a great job with the fabric glue! I tried to sew the patches but that just didn't work out. Gotta be somewhat crafty for that and that I don't claim to be!

Free Zoo Day

MLK day was Free Admission day at the Houston Zoo. So I took the kids and we spent the morning there. We saw all the most important things, the elephants, giraffes, monkeys and the Children's Zoo. Then the crowds were just too much so we left and went to my fave place, Chick Fil A! Then went jogging at the school playground and let the kids play. I was a super great mom that day! haha

Busted Pipe = Excitement and New Stuff!

The weekend of big freeze.... Saturday, I'm working out in the living room. Adrian just left for work. Isabel started screaming, "There is water coming out of your room, Mom!" I run and see water coming out under the door. I thought someone left the sink running or something. I open the door and water is coming down the doorway hard like pouring rain. I go in and water is pouring around the perimeter of the bedroom. I start screaming and dialing the phone! "Adrian, how do you turn the water off?!" He tells me and I do but it is a couple of hours before the water stops completely. So he forgets about work for the day and spends the entire Saturday trying to fix the pipe unsuccessfully. So without running water, we picked up the next day and moved into our beloved travel trailer at the lovely Houston West RV Park in Brookshire where we spent 3 nights. On day number 3, the plumber comes. First of all, he didn't look like your typical plumber. He was young and good looking! haha But good looks don't come with plumber skills and brains apparently. He was sent by our home warranty. So after cutting a hole in the ceiling (See pic) he says, "Oh your warranty doesn't cover pipe freezes." Adrian says over the phone to send the plumber packing because he wanted nearly $300 to fix it! So after talking to his plumber friend, Adrian was able to fix it. So we are back home and soon getting all new flooring for the house, new walls, new ceiling and new furniture! Woo hoo! Oh and new paint and no more wallpaper in my bathroom and I don't even have to paint it! Yay for Adrian's friend and my new fave contractor! It pays to have a hubby in the construction biz! Now any suggestions on colors for my bedroom?? I was going to do red, but I think I want a red kitchen instead? hmmm, I'm open because I want a new bedspread and curtains anyway. Oh by the way, the clothes in the pic were all the clothes I had to remove from the dresser after the super smart plumber turned on the water full blast and re wet my entire room. I guess he thought I was making up the part about having a leak?

Many of you may not new of the newest Fashion Craze down here in the south. Buc-ee's t-shirts!! Since we have traveled far and wide (in Texas atleast) we can appreciate the beauty of a travel stop with the cleanest restrooms, best fudge, home decor, and basically anything you could possibly want! The big thing has been for kids to wear Bucee's t shirts to school and so that's what the girls chose to wear today. Oh and it's big for teachers too, I've noticed. By the way, the only place you'll find Bucee's is in Southeast,TX where there are several location. Make sure you try it out next time you're down!
